The New York Times and Google Maps
The New York Times website is known for its extensive use of the Google Maps API. Over 50% of the travel section pages features some integration of Google Maps to add a geo-location element to its usability. Every destination mentioned in the travel section has a google map.
In this video, a staffer at the newpaper claims that “Maps are another user interface.” Another statement is that “Data visualization is crucial to NY Times as well as all news and information sites”.
