Google TechTalk on User Experience
This TechTalk lecture examines “The Science and Art of User Experience at Google”. The engineering team explains the thinking behind UI design and how it is both user-centric and data-driven.
Usefulness is of prime importance when designing the Google user interfaces. When considering a possible new feature, the team always asks “Will the feature be useful to a majority of users?”. If the answer is no, then they leave the feature out!
The UI decisions are always data driven and incorporates the following elements:
- User studies (How do people use Google?)
- Log analysis
- Feedback from customer support
- UI experiments
- User testing
